St. Ethelbert’s Gate is an original hand printed linocut print.
It’s 285mm by 397mm in size (a little smaller than A3). It will be sent rolled inside tissue paper inside a cardboard tube.
It is printed on Japanese HoSho paper, an off white paper.
It is an open edition print, signed and titled by me.
The print is based on stonework that can be found in an archway at the entrance to Norwich Cathedral called St. Ethelbert’s Gate. My take on the stonework depicts a dragon in a tree with mythical creatures around the base and a knight (believe to be St. George) with his sword ready to strike. The working title for this piece as ‘He’s Behind You’ as the eyes of both the dragon and the knight face backwards as if they’ve just spotted each other.
The block for this print has been carved using the linocut print technique and has been pulled by hand. Each print is therefore unique and may differ slightly from the photograph. The print does not come framed or mounted.
Thank you for looking.
