Learn how to make your very own linocut print in this workshop for complete beginners. All the designs available will be festive/winter themed but you are welcome to create what you like!
I believe anyone can learn linocut printmaking. You don't need an artistic background; I provide example designs for you to use. In my workshop you’ll learn step-by-step how to make a simple A5 black and white linocut print, the start of your linocut journey.
You’ll begin by drawing your own design or using one of the designs provided and transferring it to a linocut block. As a group we’ll go through the stages of carving, inking and printing your block either by hand or using a small press. We'll talk about tools and techniques and you can ask as many questions as you like. There will be a variety of papers available for use and participants will leave the workshop with their carved lino block and their printed design.
All tools and materials are provided. The workshop is very hands-on, with everything explained in demonstrations as you go along, in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.
Children aged 10 and over are welcome with an adult accompanying them to the workshop (as a participant). The tools involved can be sharp so parents accept full responsibility for their children.
You have the option when booking to also purchase a Linocut Printmaking Kit that will be presented to you at the workshop. This kit contains the equipment that we will be using at the workshop so you can continue your linocut journey straight away after your workshop.

The workshop will take place between 10am and 2pm on Thursday 17th November 2022. I ask participants to please arrive 10 minutes before for a prompt start.
The workshop will be held in the lovely upstairs room above Carberry's Cafe at 18 Wensum Street, just down the road from the Cathedral, in Norwich City Centre. There is no on-site parking and the cheapest is a short walk away at St. Andrew's Car Park. Food and drink is available to bring up from downstairs so you can order lunch/hot drinks as needed. The workshop is held up a flight of stairs and unfortunately there is no lift available so may not be suitable for mobility impaired participants.
Given the uncertainty around Covid, I do ask attendees to take a lateral flow test on the morning of the workshop. The room is large and effort will be made to spread participants out as much as possible.
Please note that workshop places are non-refundable. I will try my best to re-book your workshop place onto a later course if given seven days notice prior to a workshop date. I’m a self-employed printmaker and venues are booked and paid for by myself in advance.
Please note that physical tickets are not sent out for your workshop place. You will receive an initial payment receipt via email and then a reminder email the day before your workshop with all the details you’ll need on the day.
If you have any questions, please feel free to message me on here or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
